Patch 1.0.28 Hotfix

Why 1.0.28 exists

Patch 1.0.28 is a hotfix published 2026-08-16 on Steam news for Sephiria (app 2436940). It sits on top of Patch 1.0.26 / 1.0.27 (2026-08-13) and does not reopen the combat-rule, spectate, or preset-slot work from that pass. Install the newest client and treat this page as the current newest build note.

TEAM HORAY listed four bullets. None add chapters, weapons, or redeem codes. The game is still six chapters, Steam Windows and macOS only, online co-op up to four, and no host migration.

The four fixes

Chapter 4 story-object UI

A bug made UI for some story objects appear corrupted during Chapter 4. If dialogue boxes, interact prompts, or object panels looked garbled in the Wasteland / Chapter 4 band, this is the intended fix. Progression itself was not rewritten — Chapter Walkthrough routing still applies. If you abandoned a Chapter 4 save because the UI looked broken, reload after 1.0.28 before starting a new slot.

Pair this with earlier Chapter 4 stability from 1.0.23 merchant and story-block improvements. UI corruption is visual and interact-layer; it is not a new secret-room rule. See Secret Rooms only if you still cannot find cracked walls after the panel renders cleanly.

Weapon tooltip keyword bleed

Opening a weapon tooltip could show keywords from a previously viewed weapon. That made Weapon Types and Weapon Upgrades research unreliable mid-Anvil. After 1.0.28, close and reopen the tooltip when comparing Sword & Shield Cleave cost, Dagger dash chains from 1.0.26, or Lightning Flash Issen text. If a keyword still looks wrong, toggle to another weapon and back once — leftover cache from an older client is the usual cause.

This matters for Presets too: a saved kit is only as honest as the tooltip you read when you built it.

Hard Mode difficulty on gamepad

Hard Mode difficulty could not be changed properly using a gamepad. Keyboard/mouse users may never have seen this. Pad players who thought Hard Mode was stuck on the wrong heat should open the difficulty control after updating and confirm the value matches the in-run modifier banner. Full pad notes live on Gamepad & Controllers and Hard Mode.

Do not confuse this with Tension or Festival of Blood combat bugs — those were already corrected in 1.0.26. 1.0.28 only restores the difficulty selector on a controller.

Time-change function reset

The time-change function did not reset properly. Players who use day/night or time-shift tools (story objects, town events, or run gizmos that alter time) could carry a stale state into the next scene. After 1.0.28, leave town or finish the object interaction once and confirm the clock or lighting returns to the expected default before a long co-op session.

If a Chapter 4 or Chapter 5 quest still refuses to start, check 1.0.26 Destiny Quest stall fixes first, then this reset.

Update checklist

  1. Steam → Sephiria → confirm news shows 1.0.28 (2026-08-16).
  2. Chapter 4: interact with one story object and confirm the panel is readable.
  3. Open two different weapon tooltips back-to-back; keywords must match the current weapon.
  4. Gamepad: change Hard Mode difficulty one step and back.
  5. Trigger a time-change object, then leave and confirm reset.
  6. Keep 1.0.26 notes bookmarked — that is still the feature patch.

1.0.28 is a four-bullet cleanliness pass. It will not rewrite your inventory grid, but it will stop Chapter 4 panels, leftover tooltip words, stuck Hard Mode on a pad, and a time function that forgot to reset from wasting a session you already earned on 1.0.26.

Reading order

  1. Version 1.0 if you need launch systems.
  2. 1.0.21 through 1.0.24 for early August.
  3. 1.0.26 for the August 13 feature/fairness pass.
  4. This page for 2026-08-16 — then return to Guides with a current client.

Steam news remains the wording authority. This wiki turns the four bullets into a five-minute verification loop so Bunnyville time is not spent reproducing bugs that already shipped a fix.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What does Sephiria 1.0.28 fix?

Corrupted Chapter 4 story-object UI, leftover keywords on weapon tooltips, Hard Mode difficulty not changing on gamepad, and a time-change function that failed to reset.

Is 1.0.28 newer than 1.0.26?

Yes. 1.0.28 shipped 2026-08-16 after 1.0.26/1.0.27 on 2026-08-13. Steam delivers a cumulative client — install the newest build.

Does 1.0.28 add content?

No. It is a four-bug hotfix. Preset slots, spectate, and Dagger chains remain 1.0.26 features.

I play keyboard only. Do I need 1.0.28?

Yes if you enter Chapter 4 or compare weapon tooltips. The gamepad Hard Mode fix is pad-only, but the other three bullets affect every input.

Does 1.0.28 add redeem codes or Switch support?

No. Sephiria stays on Steam for Windows and macOS with no promotional codes and no host migration.
