Patch 1.0.23 Update

Why 1.0.23 matters

Patch 1.0.23 shipped on 2026-08-04 as the first post-1.0.22 maintenance pass for Sephiria on Steam (app 2436940). It does not add chapters or loot pools; it corrects stage flow, endgame boss edge cases, artifact and weapon math, and a long tail of UI and progression bugs that blocked saves or wasted runs. If you are pushing Chapter 5 before Chapter 6, or juggling Side Bag swaps in co-op, treat this as a mandatory install.

Read it beside Version 1.0 for baseline systems and Patch 1.0.21 for launch-week boss tuning.

Stages and merchants

Combat stages now return merchants to their positions after fights end instead of leaving them stranded off-route. That matters for players who shop between rooms and rely on reroll economy from Inventory Grid planning.

The Suspicious Hat Merchant also received a flee-timing fix so the encounter behaves predictably instead of desyncing from combat state. Hat Merchant players should re-test off-screen indicator behavior noted in the bug-fix section below.

Boss Qliphoth fixes

Qliphoth — the Chapter 5 root-cave finale — received two targeted fixes:

  • Safe zone projectiles — attacks entering the intended safe area no longer incorrectly damage players who read the tell correctly.
  • Phase 3 cutscene — dying during the Phase 3 cutscene no longer leaves orphaned effect objects that clutter the arena or confuse co-op callouts.

These stack on 1.0 hitbox improvements that already reduced projectile density. Revisit the dedicated Qliphoth guide before blaming grid DPS for a fight that was partially a patch bug.

Artifacts

Multiplayer correctness landed for two popular pieces from the ~300 artifacts pool:

  • Scabbard of Exorcism — projectile direction now matches design intent in multiplayer instead of firing at wrong angles for clients.
  • Golden Needle of the North — freeze proc behavior corrected so crowd-control builds from Combo Effects behave consistently solo and in parties.

Artifact-heavy grids should be smoke-tested in a short co-op lobby after updating — no host migration still applies if someone disconnects mid-room.

Weapons

  • Solis Iubar — special attack no longer triggers the wrong ability at MP 150+, fixing burst windows for Staff and hybrid grids.
  • Minigun — MP cost no longer displays or charges sub-one decimal values that broke sustained fire math.

Cross-check your branch on Weapon Types and the Tier List only after you confirm specials fire correctly in a training room.

UI and localization

  • Russian fonts — Cyrillic text renders with proper font coverage.
  • Rylie main quest — dialogue order fixed so story beats play before the potion quest gate.
  • Effect and quest text — copy and trigger strings cleaned up for readability.
  • Preset Esc lock — applying a preset no longer leaves Esc trapped in a bad state.
  • Language UI — longer language names no longer clip awkwardly in the selector.

Preset users from Side Bag workflows should save, apply, and open menus once after patch install.

  2. Re-test preset apply + Esc menu flow.
  3. If main quest stalled pre-patch, load save and verify Rylie chain advances.
  4. Co-op party: one short run with Scabbard or Golden Needle if your grid uses them.

  6. Refresh Updates hub mental model — this is the current newest hotfix after 1.0.22.

Grid rules from Inventory Grid and tablet adjacency did not rewrite — fewer bugs mean more honest practice reps.

1.0.23 is a reliability patch: merchants stay put, Qliphoth safe zones work, multiplayer artifacts aim correctly, and progression blockers clear. Update before you spend another evening debugging a fight that already shipped a fix.

Reading order with sibling patches

  2. Patch 1.0.21 for day-one boss fairness.
  3. Patch 1.0.22 for Chapter 6 event stability.

Steam news remains authoritative for exact wording. This wiki translates bullets into workflows so Bunnyville prep time is not wasted on solved bugs.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What does Sephiria 1.0.23 fix?

It fixes merchant placement after combat, Qliphoth safe zone and Phase 3 cutscene bugs, Scabbard of Exorcism and Golden Needle multiplayer issues, Solis Iubar and Minigun MP bugs, Russian fonts, quest dialogue order, and many progression and co-op stability issues.

Do I need 1.0.22 before 1.0.23?

Steam delivers cumulative updates. Read both notes: 1.0.22 for Chapter 6 earthquake and Breath of Ice, 1.0.23 for Qliphoth and merchant fixes.

Does 1.0.23 change Qliphoth patterns?

No new phases were added. Projectiles entering the safe zone no longer hit incorrectly, and Phase 3 cutscene deaths no longer leave stray effect objects.

Should co-op groups update before artifact runs?

Yes. Scabbard of Exorcism direction and Golden Needle freeze fixes specifically target multiplayer correctness, plus combat and Miracle select connection fixes.

Does 1.0.23 add redeem codes or new chapters?

No. Sephiria has no redeem codes. This patch is bug fixes and correctness — still six chapters with online co-op up to four players and no host migration.
