Weapon Types Guide

Six branches, one combat language

Sephiria arms Bunnyville’s hero with six weapon branches, each feeding different Controls habits and inventory grid tag pools. Inside a run, 200+ upgrades modify combos and special moves; between runs, Destiny Inscription and Ken’s talents amplify one branch you commit to. This guide explains each type’s identity, ideal tablet combinations, and where it sits on the Tier List for 1.0.

Sword & Shield

Identity: Frontline stability. Block and RMB parry windows forgive misreads while you learn red laser telegraphs.

Range: Melee. Face elites head-on when stamina allows.

Upgrade path themes: Shield bash extensions, parry ripostes, stamina recovery on block.

Grid tags: On-parry procs, sustain corners, stagger setup for allies in co-op.

Best players: Beginners, Companion Build frontline, Hard Mode when i-frames shrink.

Weakness: DPS ceiling without stagger support; slow clear if grid is pure defense.

Greatsword

Identity: Heavy commit swings. Trade mobility for burst during enemy recovery frames.

Range: Melee, longer reach than dagger but slower startup.

Upgrade path themes: Charge attacks, wide arcs, elite stagger bonuses.

Grid tags: On-kill explosions, opening hit amplifiers, brief Miracle sync windows.

Best players: Solo farmers who read telegraphs early, co-op burst slot after Sword & Shield stagger.

Weakness: Standing still during wind-up kills you in Hard Mode elemental floors.

Dagger

Identity: Aggressive uptime. Micro-dodges through telegraphs instead of blocking them.

Range: Melee, shortest reach — positioning is the real weapon.

Upgrade path themes: Combo chains, backstab bonuses, attack speed on dodge.

Grid tags: Horizontal on-hit rails; avoid wide artifacts blocking tablet lines.

Best players: Controls veterans, speedrun aspirants.

Weakness: Low forgiveness; bad grids feel unbearable without sustain tablets from Tablets.

Katana / Blade

Identity: Parry-combo skill expression. Highest ceiling, steepest floor.

Range: Melee with dash-in tools on some upgrades.

Upgrade path themes: Perfect parry extensions, combo finishers, reflect windows.

Grid tags: Parry-trigger tablets, crit chains, Miracle finishers.

Best players: Soulslike veterans, co-op assassins with coordinated stagger calls.

Weakness: Chapter six and Chapter 6 Final Boss punish missed parries harder than dodges.

Crossbow

Identity: Ranged positioning. Kite along telegraph edges, never straight backpedal.

Range: Ranged primary; melee panic button depends on upgrades.

Upgrade path themes: Piercing bolts, traps, crit at distance, mobility shots.

Grid tags: Range crit lines, trap adjacency, elemental tablets for Hard Mode.

Best players: Solo safe clears, co-op ranger role, players learning grids without melee stress.

Weakness: Tight spaces and add-swarm rooms if AoE grid is weak.

Staff / Magic

Identity: Miracle engine and area control. Damage often tied to Miracles & Potions cooldown discipline.

Range: Mid-range casts; positioning between melee and Crossbow.

Upgrade path themes: Spell elements, Miracle amplifiers, crowd control fields.

Grid tags: T-hub Miracle modifiers, cooldown reduction, elemental coverage.

Best players: Companion Build support, Hard Mode cleanse carriers.

Weakness: Until inscription and grid online, early chapters feel slow.

Choosing and committing

Follow this decision tree from Getting Started:

  1. New to action roguelites? Sword & Shield.
  2. Want range safety? Crossbow.
  3. Love parry games? Katana — after tutorial runs.
  4. Co-op with friends? One frontline + Staff support + Crossbow before duplicate melee.
  5. Already inscribed a branch? Stay unless three consecutive runs prove misery.

Upgrades versus inscription

Run upgrades reset; inscription persists. Farm Sapphires via Destiny Inscription guide for branch nodes instead of hoping RNG upgrade lottery carries account power.

Artifact and tablet bias

Branches do not hard-lock drops, but loot tables bias tags matching your weapon. Switching weapons mid-run without tag overlap bricks Artifacts value. Side Bag swaps from Version 1.0 help pivot before bosses, not every room.

Multiplayer notes

Online co-op has no host migration — weapon choices matter for entire session length. Duplicate Staff supports waste Miracle overlap; duplicate Daggers steal stagger windows.

Weapon type is Sephiria’s long-term contract with your account. Sample all six in runs, inscribe one, grid craft for it, and let upgrades within runs decorate a identity you already chose.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What weapon branches exist in Sephiria?

Sword & Shield, Greatsword, Dagger, Katana/Blade, Crossbow, and Staff/Magic — six paths with 200+ upgrades each inside runs.

Can I switch weapons between runs?

Yes, but Destiny Inscription rewards committing to one branch. Switch after testing in runs, not after one bad fight.

Which weapon has parry focus?

Sword & Shield and Katana emphasize RMB parry. Katana rewards perfect parries with longer combos; Sword & Shield is more forgiving.

Which weapon is best for co-op support?

Staff/Magic with Miracle-focused grids fits the support role in Companion Build guides alongside a Sword & Shield frontline.
