Sephiria Summon Companions Guide
Colin tokens, companion combo lines, and artifact scaling — not the same as co-op party roles.
Summons versus co-op roles
Sephiria uses the word companion in two different ways. Online co-op is up to four Steam players through the Mysterious Door — role splits live on the Companion Build page. This guide covers summon companions: AI allies, planet-style helpers, and Companion combo artifacts you assemble inside a single-player or co-op run grid.
Summon routes trade personal DPS for passive pressure — companions attack, intercept projectiles, and proc Combo Effects while you dodge red lasers from Controls. 1.0 expanded the catalog to roughly 300 artifacts and 70 tablets; companion lines are viable for normal clears, Hard Mode attrition, and boss learning when paired with Side Bag burst swaps.
Colin — the companion merchant room
Colin is a special route node NPC who sells a Companion combo token artifact for 500 leaves (in-run currency). Community guides and Steam player notes agree on these rules:
- Colin appears in a dedicated Colin room during dungeon routing — not in Bunnyville shops.
- His barter is fixed at 0 — you cannot haggle the price down further.
- He sells only — Colin does not buy your surplus artifacts.
- The purchased piece feeds the #Companion combo family on your grid panel.
Colin rooms are RNG. Do not reroute an entire chapter chasing Colin if your grid already lacks tablet adjacency — a companion token in dead cells helps nobody. When Colin appears early, buying the token is often worth delaying a greed node if your build already committed to companion tags from Recommended Builds.
Patch 1.0.24 stopped Collin from repeating dialogue once he joins as a permanent companion ally — town and mid-run talk spam is cleaner when you rush Side Bag swaps before chapter bosses.
Core companion artifacts
Companion grids revolve around uptime, attack frequency, and shared buffs:
| Piece | Role | Build note |
|---|---|---|
| Alfonso’s Horn | Scales companion damage and attack rate | Maximize before boss doors when running summon-heavy routes |
| Simple Contract | Party-wide companion buffs | Strong when you already field multiple summons |
| Colin token | Starts or completes Companion combo line | Buy when combo panel shows tier growth |
| Planet / storm helpers | Projectile intercept, elemental procs | Pairs with Crossbow or Staff elemental grids |
| Soul-Weaver style procs | On-kill spectral helpers | Burn or status routes from Alchemy Combo |
Exact artifact names and tier breakpoints shift with hotfixes — always read live card text after Patch 1.0.23 Side Bag alchemy fixes and 1.0.24 stability patches.
Grid and tablet discipline
Companion builds fail the same way melee builds fail: dead cells and rainbow tags.
- Place Alfonso’s Horn or your anchor companion artifact first — corner or center depending on footprint.
- Rotate tablets that buff adjacent companion tags — see Tablet Combinations.
- Open the Combo Effects panel after each shop; if Companion tier flatlines, stop buying unrelated artifacts.
- Side Bag burst pieces before Askard or Qliphoth — companions stabilize rooms, burst tablets win finales.
Q/E preview between waves, not during telegraph wind-ups. Companion uptime does not excuse misreading lasers.
Weapon pairing
Summons do not replace weapon mastery — they multiply whatever branch you inscribed:
- Crossbow — safe positioning while companions hold space; fire or lightning companion synergies from community runs.
- Staff / Magic — Miracle cooldown plus companion elemental apply.
- Greatsword — Bone Gearblade-style companion routes for Hard Mode sustain documented in endgame guides.
- Sword & Shield — learn bosses while companions chip; swap to burst Side Bag for phase checks.
Commit one weapon branch on Destiny Inscription before forcing Colin every run.
Tree Root miracles and companion frequency
Tree Root nodes (see Route Nodes) sometimes offer miracles that buff companion attack frequency or max HP. These are high-value for summon routes when you already own Alfonso’s Horn — take frequency before luxury damage miracles if your combo panel is Companion-focused.
Hard Mode and co-op notes
Hard Mode elemental modifiers punish passive grids that never cleanse — bring one answer from Miracles & Potions even on summon routes. Patch 1.0.21 scaled Blood Festival healing down in multiplayer — four-player summon stacks cannot outheal every modifier.
In co-op, each player still manages a personal grid. One party member can run Colin companion tokens while others cover stagger roles from Companion Build — communicate loot tags so Colin purchases do not steal tablet footprints.
Practice before chapter four
If companion routing feels chaotic, run Gauntlet Mode to test Alfonso’s Horn scaling without six-chapter commitment. Gauntlet wave bosses expose whether your summon line actually procs under pressure.

Summon companions turn Sephiria into a small army — Colin supplies the token, Alfonso’s Horn supplies the tempo, and your grid supplies the math. Do not confuse that with co-op party roles; read both guides before your next Mysterious Door session.
