Sephiria Weapon Upgrades Guide

Two upgrade systems — do not confuse them

Sephiria 1.0 ships six weapon branches with 200+ in-run upgrade paths, but upgrades arrive through two different systems that new players mix up constantly:

1. Anvil nodes during a run — temporary weapon evolution choices on the dungeon route. These reshape how your branch plays for the current attempt and are the focus of Route Nodes.
2. Permanent blacksmith upgrades in Bunnyville — meta-progression spent on materials gathered across runs. These nodes cannot be refunded in the current Steam build (app 2436940), so every purchase is a commitment.

This guide explains permanent weapon planning, how offer rates change how often Anvil rooms align with your branch, and how to test upgrades with an action check instead of chasing colored damage text.

Permanent blacksmith basics

After runs you return to Bunnyville atop the tower. The blacksmith accepts materials earned during descents — community farming guides describe tiers like early Tower Copper from chapters one and two, mid Luminous Shards from elites in chapters three and four, and late Apex Cores from chapter five and six bosses for high-tier nodes.

Key rules:

• Upgrades are permanent — no respec for spent materials as of Patch 1.0.24.
• Each branch has 50+ nodes spanning base stats, synergies, and moveset-altering picks.
• Costs scale — late nodes demand efficient farming loops, not casual full clears.
• Branch commitment — splitting materials across three weapons delays every tree.

Offer rates — why your Anvil feels starved

During runs, Anvil rooms offer upgrades from your committed branch pool. Community data through August 2026 puts approximate offer rates at:

These numbers explain why a Dagger inscription feels “unlucky” while a Greatsword account completes Tier 3 fantasies more often — not necessarily because Dagger is weak, but because offers are scarcer. Read Weapon Types for identity, then Tier List for mode context.

Tier 2 and Tier 3 transformations

Weapon upgrades are not linear +5% bumps. Mid-tree picks open Tier 2 evolutions that change attack identity — crossbow lines toward ballista mines, sword paths toward frost or lightning themes, staff routes toward homing spell loops documented in Magic Grimoire.

Tier 3 capstones rename weapons and rewrite inputs. A Tier 3 pick should pass three questions:

1. Trigger — what input or event activates the effect?
2. Payoff — which artifact tag, Combo Effect, or Miracle feeds it?
3. Delivery — can you execute it while reading red telegraphs from Controls?

An upgrade that fails the delivery test belongs on another run — not because it is bad, but because your grid cannot maintain its condition.

Anvil during runs — when to detour

Route Nodes priority: take Anvil when your weapon is one upgrade short of a boss plan. Skip Anvil when your inventory grid lacks tablet adjacency — a transformed weapon on a dead grid still loses.

After Patch 1.0.21, Sword & Shield Cleave cost dropped 20→15 with guard frames active from the animation start. That is branch-specific evidence — do not assume every weapon received the same defensive buff.

Moro and Training Grounds unlocks

Buying a new branch on Destiny Inscription is not enough. Moro in Bunnyville Training Grounds completes weapon unlock drills so Anvil offers include that branch’s evolutions. Skipping Moro produces “inscription unlocked but no upgrades in dungeon” confusion — detailed on Gauntlet Mode.

Material farming — Chapter 1–2 speed loop

Efficient permanent upgrade farming avoids slow chapter six clears:

1. Prep — movement-speed tablets or a light weapon for fast room transitions.
2. Descend — prioritize door-lock rooms; skip optional wall hunts unless secret rooms are on-path.
3. Boss rush — clear chapter one and two finales on Chapter 1 Bosses and Chapter 2 Bosses patterns you already know.
4. Reset — intentionally end the run early in chapter three after banking boss chest materials.
5. Reinvest — spend at blacksmith, repeat until high-tier nodes unlock.

Pair tablet adjacency bonuses — community grids slot greed or fortune tablets beside loot artifacts when farming — with Tablet Combinations math instead of random rarity picks.

Recommended upgrade order for new accounts

1. Commit one branch matching Recommended Builds archetype.
2. Complete Moro unlock for that branch.
3. Buy survival inscription before luxury weapon nodes.
4. Fund Side Bag from Side Bag guide before cosmetic weapon vanity.
5. Push permanent weapon nodes that reinforce your grid tags — not isolated damage stickers.
6. Use Training Doll and Gauntlet reps before spending Apex-tier materials.

Co-op and weapon upgrades

Co-op parties should align branch roles from Companion Build before anyone spends Apex materials on a solo fantasy. No host migration — disconnect after blacksmith spending still hurts, but less than mid-boss disconnects.
