Training Grounds Guide

What Training Grounds are for

Training Grounds are Sephiria’s Bunnyville practice space for weapon unlock drills and pattern rehearsal. They sit beside Gauntlet Mode in the practice ecosystem: Gauntlet is wave scoring; Training Grounds are where Moro finishes inscription-gated weapon tutorials so new branches actually appear on dungeon Anvils.

After 1.0 (2026-07-31), many players buy a weapon node on Destiny Inscription, never talk to Moro, then wonder why Weapon Upgrades never offer the branch. This page is the missing checklist — plus freeze troubleshooting called out in Patch 1.0.24 notes toward 1.0.25.

How to reach Training Grounds

  1. Return to Bunnyville between runs.
  2. Spend Sapphires on the weapon branch node you want (Longsword / Blade family, Dagger, Crossbow, and later tree nodes — confirm live board labels).
  3. Find Moro and accept the unlock quest.
  4. Enter the building on the right side of town (community and Steam guide consensus) to open Training Grounds.
  5. Complete the weapon-specific drill for that branch.
  6. Return to normal dungeon runs — Anvil offers should now include the unlocked evolutions.

Skipping step 3 or 5 is the silent progression bug. Inscription alone is not enough.

Training Grounds versus Training Doll versus Gauntlet

Use all three. Unlock with Moro, measure with the Doll, stress-test with Gauntlet, then climb chapters via Chapter Walkthrough.

Freeze bug context (1.0.24 → 1.0.25)

Official 1.0.24 Steam notes listed a Known Issue: the game can freeze when entering Training Grounds, marked (Resolved, 1.0.25). Practical player steps:

  1. Verify Steam installed the newest Sephiria build (Properties → Installed Build / update).
  2. If freezes persist, gather Player.log from the Save Files log path and report via Discord or [email protected].
  3. Fallback practice: Training Doll nodes and Gauntlet waves until drills are stable.
  4. Controller users: Patch 1.0.23 already fixed some Comprehensive Training Grounds controller issues — disable Steam Input if pads misbehave (Save Files troubleshooting).

Do not delete your save because of a Training Grounds hang — back up first.

What to practice inside drills

Treat each Moro drill as combat homework, not a cutscene:

  • Red laser telegraphs — same language as Controls.
  • Branch identity — Greatsword spacing, Crossbow kite lanes, Staff Miracle timing.
  • RMB defense — dodge and parry windows before Askard or Qliphoth.
  • Post-unlock verification — start a short run and confirm Anvil offers match the branch.

If you are preparing Root’s Retreat or Hard Mode, finish every inscribed weapon drill before stacking elemental modifiers. Muscle memory from Training Grounds is cheaper than Sapphire grief.

Presets and Side Bag after unlocks

After a new branch unlock:

  1. Save a fresh Preset for that weapon.
  2. Rebuild inventory grid assumptions — tablet tags change with branch identity.
  3. Plan Side Bag boss kits for the new moveset.
  4. Tick related nodes on Destiny Checklist.

Patch 1.0.24 also remapped the Preset Settings key and fixed unlock reflection in the Preset UI — re-open presets after Training Grounds unlocks so the UI matches reality.

  1. Clear early chapters with Getting Started fundamentals.
  2. Unlock Ken Talents.
  3. Buy and complete Moro drills for your committed branch.
  4. Run Gauntlet sessions targeting wipe bosses.
  5. Attempt Hard Mode / Root’s Retreat only after drills and Gauntlet both feel boring.

Training Grounds exist so Sephiria teaches weapons before the tower grades you. Talk to Moro, finish the drill, verify the Anvil, then climb.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Where are Sephiria Training Grounds?

In Bunnyville — enter the building on the right after speaking with Moro about a weapon unlock from Destiny Inscription.

Why did my weapon not appear after inscription?

You must complete Moro's Training Grounds drill for that branch. Inscription alone does not finish the unlock.

Is there a Training Grounds freeze bug?

Patch 1.0.24 notes listed a freeze on entry marked resolved in 1.0.25. Update Steam, collect Player.log if it persists, and use Gauntlet or Training Doll as fallback.

Are Training Grounds the same as Gauntlet Mode?

No. Training Grounds handle Moro weapon drills in town. Gauntlet Mode is a separate wave-scoring practice mode.

Should I use Training Grounds before Hard Mode?

Yes. Finish committed weapon drills, then rehearse bosses in Gauntlet before Root's Retreat stages.
